Bellefontaine, OH – With temperatures expected to plunge below 20 degrees this winter, Logan County officials have activated their Overnight Emergency Warming Shelter for the 2025–2026 season. The shelter provides a warm, safe place for residents in need of overnight refuge during dangerously cold conditions.
According to the Logan Co. Housing Innovation’s Workgroup, the shelter will open any night when forecasts predict temperatures under 20°F. Guests can check in between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Bellefontaine First Church of God, located at 1000 E. Brown Avenue, using the Youth Center entrance, Door 9.
The shelter closes at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends, ensuring those without heat or housing have a safe overnight option when conditions turn severe.
Organizers urge residents to spread the word to anyone in need of shelter as the cold season begins. “No one should be outside in these temperatures,” the workgroup said in a release. “We want everyone to know there’s a warm bed and a caring team ready to help.”
