Logan County, OH – A Lima man is facing a felony charge after a high-speed pursuit through two counties ended with his arrest Sunday afternoon, following a crash and an attempted escape on foot.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began just before 4 p.m. Sunday when deputies attempted to stop a white Ford Expedition on U.S. Route 33 for speeding and erratic driving. The driver was later identified as 32-year-old Rayvon Holmen Jr. of Lima.

Deputies said Holmen initially pulled over near Lima Street and Vine Street in Huntsville. As deputies approached the SUV, Holmen allegedly fled the stop, leading officers on a chase through several Huntsville streets, including Napoleon, Wishart, and Fourth streets.

Authorities say the vehicle cut through a grassy area before re-entering State Route 117 northbound. During the pursuit, deputies reported Holmen weaving through traffic and reaching speeds of up to 113 miles per hour.

The chase continued into Hardin County, but deputies terminated the pursuit near Roundhead due to public safety concerns. Minutes later, dispatch received reports of a crash near State Route 235 and Center Street in Roundhead.

Deputies located the Expedition wrecked and abandoned. Witnesses told officers they saw a man running from the scene. Shortly after, deputies spotted a suspect near an abandoned property on Mill Street. Fresh footprints led officers to a nearby shed with tarped walls.

After repeated commands, Holmen exited the shed with his hands raised and was taken into custody. Deputies reportedly found three cell phones, $3,700 in cash, and two sets of keys, including one for the crashed SUV, on his person.

K-9 Tega later tracked the suspect’s route and located a wallet and documents belonging to Holmen.

Holmen was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was booked on a felony charge of failure to comply.
