West Mansfield, OH – A Logan County man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after a series of escalating incidents that began with harassment reports and ended in an alleged attempted robbery and brief standoff in West Mansfield.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first responded around 1 p.m. to a home on East Center Street after a woman reported that 20-year-old Raijuan R. White continued showing up at her residence with flowers and handwritten notes. She told deputies White had previously taken her vehicle and dog without permission but declined to press charges once they were returned. Moments before officers arrived, she said he allegedly took her dog again and fled.
Around 1:20 p.m., dispatch received a second 911 call—this time from a home on South Main Street. Officials said White allegedly attempted to rob a man’s brother and sister-in-law at knifepoint, demanding their belongings. A family member reportedly wrestled him to the ground, but he slipped away, leaving behind a backpack that deputies say contained fake flowers, notes, a blue-handled knife, and an empty 9mm magazine.
Deputies then responded to White’s residence on East Center Street. According to officers, he briefly opened a back door before shutting it and refusing to come outside. He was seen looking through windows before moving deeper into the home. His mother told deputies he had blocked her number and would not answer.
A perimeter was established, and the Bellefontaine Police Department Special Response Team was activated. After repeated commands and two distraction devices, White eventually surrendered through the front door without further incident. Deputies later recovered camouflage pants and a ski mask reportedly worn earlier in the day.
White was arrested for attempted aggravated robbery and booked into the Logan County Jail.
