Lockport, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 39-year-old Lockport man on felony DWI charges under Leandra’s Law after a traffic stop Thursday night on Lincoln Avenue.
According to Sheriff Michael Filicetti, deputies stopped the suspect’s vehicle at approximately 9:10 p.m. on October 30, 2025, after it was observed driving onto the shoulder with a license plate violation. During the stop, officers noticed signs of intoxication from the driver, identified as Jonathan T. Reid, who also had a 9-year-old child in the car.
Reid was taken into custody and transported to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, where he reportedly registered a 0.12% blood alcohol content. He now faces charges including Aggravated DWI – Leandra’s Law (Felony), DWI (Misdemeanor), Operating a Motor Vehicle With a BAC Above 0.08%, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The juvenile passenger was safely turned over to family members. Reid was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.
The investigation was led by Deputy L. Weidel, with assistance from the New York State Police, the Niagara County Coroner’s Office, and local emergency responders.
