LOCKPORT, IL – Lockport police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted two people with a concrete lawn decoration in their home on Saturday morning.

After assaulting a 54-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man, Alexander P. Lello, 32, is now facing charges of home invasion, aggravated battery, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest. As per police reports, Lello allegedly entered a home located in the 1500 block of South Washington Street and ransacked the property before attacking the occupants.

Police responded to the scene after a resident fled the home and alerted authorities shortly before 1 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the victims had been struck with a lawn decoration taken from the home’s front porch.

Lello allegedly entered the unlocked home after damaging several items on the front porch. He then entered the basement and damaged several walls and a television before fleeing on foot. The man and woman suffered minor injuries, and one was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment.

Police said Lello may have been under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms during the attack. When officers attempted to arrest him, he turned to face them and threatened them with a garden tool. Officers were forced to use a Taser on Lello to stop and arrest him.

Lello is currently being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility and is awaiting a bond hearing.
