Schererville Officers Responded to Bomb Threat at Nordstrom Rack Thursday

SCHERERVILLE, IN — Officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack Thursday following a phone call to management regarding a possible bomb threat. 

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00pm at the Nordstrom Rack located at 185 US 41.

Upon arrival, both management and officers conducted a thorough search of the premises but found nothing suspicious. To ensure the safety of employees and customers, Schererville Officers requested the assistance of the Lake County Police Department’s K9 Officer trained in bomb detection.

As a precautionary measure, the parking lot and the building were temporarily cleared out until the K9 unit arrived and conducted a thorough search. Fortunately, no explosives were found, and the scene was cleared.

Authorities have stressed that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Nordstrom Rack has since resumed normal operations.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

Officers were assisted by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
