Port Barrington, IL – A Port Barrington motorcycle crash has left a man in critical condition, prompting ongoing investigations by the Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators.
The incident, which took place on Sunday around 7:25 p.m. at the junction of West Roberts Road and Center Street, involved a 2012 BMW motorcycle and another motorcyclist driving recklessly.
Preliminary reports indicate that both motorcyclists were speeding eastbound, weaving through traffic and illegally passing other vehicles. The critical moment occurred when the BMW rider, a 41-year-old man from Lake Zurich, swerved into the westbound lanes to overtake a group of motorcycles. Upon returning to the eastbound lane, he collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado.
The impact severely injured the BMW rider, who was thrown from his motorcycle. He sustained a fractured neck and severe head injuries, and was rushed to a hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 47-year-old Wauconda resident, was not injured.
