GARY, IN – Indiana is mourning the loss of a dedicated K-9 Officer who was shot and killed Thursday during a police foot pursuit.
Falco, the brave police dog, valiantly sacrificed his life in the line of duty, serving and protecting the community until his last breath. A 29-year-old suspect, wanted for aggravated battery and criminal recklessness, is now in police custody. Fortunately, the dedicated officer involved in the pursuit emerged unharmed. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department has taken charge of the investigation to uncover the details surrounding this devastating event.
Falco dutifully served as an Indiana K-9 officer for an impressive eight years, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and unmatched skills. At the age of ten, he epitomized the epitome of a true hero in law enforcement.
Acknowledging the profound impact Falco made on the community, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies came together in a somber procession, paying tribute to the fallen K-9 as his remains were respectfully transported to the Hobart Animal Clinic.
