DIAMOND – A Northbrook man was sentenced to 15 years in prison in a Grundy County Courtroom last week.

Troy Smith, 34 of Northbrook, pled guilty to Unlawful Delivery of Meth, a Class X Felony, in May of this year.

Smith was arrested by Grundy County Sheriffs June 30th 2021 after he failed to stop in Diamond for an Officer.  During the incident, Smith allegedly fled the scene before crashing his vehicle in an embankment.

Two bags of Meth, each weighing 180 grams, were later seized from the vehicle, worth $20,000.  Smith later told authorities he would get the meth from somewhere in the Chicago area and then deal it out to people in the area.

Smith will be required to serve 75% of the sentence before he is eligible for parole in November 2032.
