Channahon, IL – A hit-and-run investigation took a dramatic turn when the suspect struck a Channahon police officer in the face, leading to a gripping confrontation. The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning Wednesday at the Manor Motel on W. Eames St.
According to Channahon Police, at approximately 12:44 am, officers responded to a witness report of a hit and run in the motel’s parking lot. Armed with valuable security video footage, the officers swiftly identified the perpetrator as Kelvon M. Tanzy, a 38-year-old resident of Aurora, Illinois, who happened to be a guest at the motel.
As officers confronted Tanzy inside his vehicle, seeking his driver’s license and proof of insurance, tensions flared. Defying lawful commands, Tanzy allegedly became increasingly argumentative, refusing to cooperate with the investigation. He then allegedly attempted to flee the scene, obstructing the officers’ efforts.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control when Tanzy allegedly struck a forceful blow to the face of one of the Channahon police officers. The attack left the officer momentarily dazed but did not deter the determined law enforcement team.
Concerned for his well-being, Tanzy was promptly escorted to a local hospital for a thorough medical evaluation. After receiving medical clearance, he was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he now faces charges of Aggravated Battery and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer.
