Lake County, Indiana: Bourbonnais Man Killed During Alleged Hammond Robbery Attempt

Hammond, IN – A Bourbonnais resident was shot and killed in Hammond, IN over the weekend after allegedly attempting to rob an apartment.

According to reports, 22-year-old Alijah Adams was killed Saturday morning in the 600 block of 169th Street. Police investigations indicate that Adams allegedly forced his way into an apartment with a firearm, intending to rob the residence. During the attempted robbery, a fight ensued, during which the resident managed to pull his own gun and allegedly shot Adams multiple times.

One other person inside the apartment at the time was also struck by gunfire and is being treated at a Chicago-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have arrested another individual for their alleged involvement in the robbery. The identity of this person has not yet been released by authorities.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
