Lake County, IN – Schererville Teen Crashes into Off-Duty Sheriff’s Property

Cedar Lake, IN – Chaos ensued in Cedar Lake as Isaiah Garcia, 19, of Schererville, was arrested after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into an off-duty Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy’s property. 

According to police report reports that happened early Saturday, when Garcia reportedly sped down West 147th Avenue before allegedly slamming into parked vehicles and the residence of the Deputy, where extensive damage to the property was reported.

Authorities stated that Garcia, reportedly traveling at double the speed limit and suspected of being under the influence, struck a fence, a gas meter, air conditioning unit, and three vehicles, including the off-duty Deputy’s Dodge Durango and Jeep. The Deputy and his wife were in the residence at the time but did not sustain injuries.

Garcia now faces multiple charge including OVWI Endangering, OVWI, Driving While Suspended Prior Conviction, Reckless Driving, and Minor in Consumption of Alcohol. Garcia was taken to a local hospital and upon release, was detained in the Lake County Jail.
