Kankakee Man Arrested on Drug Charges During 3 A.M. Traffic Stop

KANKAKEE, Ill. – A routine traffic stop on 5th Avenue and West Oak Street in Kankakee resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man on drug charges. 

According to City Police, Jorge Santillan, a Kankakee resident, was taken into custody on Thursday morning after police found a scale and suspected methamphetamine on his person during a search. 

Santillan was a passenger in the car at the time of the stop. He has been charged with controlled substance trafficking and possession of methamphetamine under 5 grams. 

Santillan is currently being held at the Jerome Combs Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
