Kankakee County Continues to Lead Illinois in Unemployment for Second Straight Month

KANKAKEE COUNTY, Ill. – Kankakee County has maintained its position as the county with the highest unemployment rate in Illinois for the second consecutive month, according to the latest report from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The report shows the jobless rate in the county rose by nearly half a percent in the last 30 days, from 6.1% in January to 6.5% in February. This marks a significant increase from the 6.4% rate registered just one year ago.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security is urging job seekers to take advantage of the various resources available to them, including online job boards and career counseling services.
