Joliet Police Arrest Mother and Son Felon Duo on Weapon and Drug Charges

JOLIET, IL – Cedric and Cynthia Harris, a mother and son duo, were arrested on Saturday morning after an extensive investigation by the Joliet Police Department. 

Both felons, the 44-year-old son and 62-year-old mother were taken into custody on alleged weapon and drug charges.

According to authorities, a search warrant was executed at the Harris’ residence in the 400 block of South DesPlaines Street. The search led to the recovery of a handgun, ammunition, a taser, and various amounts of suspected cocaine, heroin, and cannabis, along with a large amount of cash.

The Harris’ were in the residence at the time of the search warrant and were placed into custody without incident. Cedric Harris has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by felon, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, no FOID, and obstructing justice. 

His mother, Cynthia Harris, faces similar charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by felon, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, no FOID, and obstructing justice.

Both individuals are currently being held in custody and awaiting trial. The Joliet Police Department urges anyone with information about this case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
