Braidwood, IL – An ongoing investigation into a vehicle-pedestrian collision last Monday has brought new insights, suggesting that the child involved may have played a significant role in the incident. The accident, which occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of North Division Street and West Anndon Drive, resulted in both the child and the vehicle’s driver being hospitalized.

According to the Braidwood Police Department, early findings indicate that the child was walking along the roadway and might have unexpectedly stepped into the path of the northbound vehicle. This detail is pivotal as it helps clarify the circumstances under which the driver, who also sustained injuries, struck the pedestrian. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver, aligning with the emerging narrative that the driver might not be at fault.

The Braidwood Fire Department and other emergency services responded to the scene, underscoring the severity of the accident. Both the child and the driver are receiving care at separate hospitals, and their conditions have not yet been publicly updated.
