Elgin Township, Kane County — A terrifying incident unfolded on Flora Drive in Elgin Township at 7:40 PM Wednesday when a 10-year-old child was involved in a close call with a vehicle. The child darted into the roadway and collided with a 2002 blue Toyota 4-door sedan. Swift action from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Elgin Police Department, and Elgin Fire Department resulted in immediate medical attention for the injured juvenile.

Thankfully, the child’s injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, and they were treated on the scene before being released to their parents. The driver involved in the accident stayed to assist and showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
