Belvidere, IL – A concert at the Apollo Theatre in Belvidere turned tragic on Friday evening when the roof collapsed, trapping multiple attendees. The incident was reported as a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), with multiple red patients and one declared dead on arrival.
According to the Belvidere Fire Department, the collapse occurred during a concert featuring heavy metal bands Morbid Angel, Revocation, and Skeletal Remains. The concert started at 7 PM and was in progress when the roof gave way.
Emergency services responded immediately, with a total of 20 ambulances requested to transport the injured. The incident has been classified as a TRT Box Alarm on Box 18 and a 2nd Alarm EMS Box 15.
While the exact number of casualties is still unclear, the authorities have confirmed that there are multiple people trapped under the debris. The rescue operation is currently underway, and the fire department has requested assistance from neighboring districts.
