Tazewell County, IL – A 30-year-old Dwight man was arrested Tuesday afternoon following what authorities described as a multi-county child pornography investigation spanning Tazewell and Livingston counties.

According to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, detectives took Dane T. Barr into custody without incident around 2:30 p.m. on October 7, 2025, during a traffic stop in Pekin, Illinois. Investigators say Barr allegedly possessed and disseminated child pornography, a Class X felony under Illinois law.

Deputies reportedly found an electronic device containing roughly 50 images and videos of suspected child sexual abuse material at the time of his arrest. Barr was transported to the Tazewell County Jail, where he remains held pending an initial court appearance.

The joint investigation involved the Tazewell and Livingston County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Authorities emphasized continued collaboration between local, state, and federal agencies to combat crimes exploiting minors.

“The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating crimes that exploit children and to working closely with our partners to hold offenders accountable,” officials stated in a release.
