Geneseo, NY – Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty announced the arrest of a Springwater resident on felony charges following a December 2025 crash that led to a DWI investigation.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Depot Road in the Town of Springwater around 1:24 p.m. on December 5, 2025, for a vehicle rollover with entrapment. Deputies identified the driver as 55-year-old Richard Bush Sr. of Springwater.
Deputies suspected Bush was intoxicated at the scene and began a roadside DWI investigation. Bush was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for further evaluation but reportedly refused a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content.
A records check revealed Bush’s driver’s license had been revoked due to a previous DWI conviction. On January 28, 2026, Deputy Emma Bondgren arrested Bush and charged him with felony aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, driving while intoxicated, and violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Bush was arraigned at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Geneseo Justice Houston and released on his own recognizance under New York’s Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Bush during arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
