Livingston County, IL – Two juveniles were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon following an investigation into a reported burglary and firearm-related threat, authorities said.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. Tuesday when the department’s Pro-Active Unit began investigating reports involving a burglary and a threat made with a firearm.

As part of that investigation, the Streator Police Department, working alongside TRI-DENT, the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, and Livingston County deputies, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to be connected to the report.

During the stop, two Streator juveniles — ages 16 and 17 — were taken into custody, according to authorities. Both were charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The 17-year-old male juvenile was also found to be on probation for a prior weapons offense.

Additional charges are currently under review by the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Livingston County State’s Attorney’s Office, officials said. Both juveniles were transported to the LaSalle County Detention Home.

Following the traffic stop, the Pontiac Tactical Readiness Team (TRT) — consisting of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Pontiac Police Department, and Dwight Police Department — executed a search warrant at a residence connected to the investigation.

During the search, authorities reported the seizure of ammunition, psilocybin mushrooms, and cannabis.

Assisting agencies included the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Pro-Active Unit, Streator Police Department, Pontiac Police Department, Dwight Police Department, LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, TRI-DENT, and VCOM.

The investigation remains ongoing.
