Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock reports that a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CDT Friday for portions of central, north-central, and western Arkansas, where early morning temperatures have dropped into the mid-30s.
According to the NWS, widespread frost is expected in valleys and sheltered areas, potentially harming sensitive vegetation. Locations affected include Marion, Baxter, Izard, Stone, Newton, Johnson, Logan, Scott, Yell, Montgomery, and Polk counties, among others.
Residents across the Ozarks and Arkansas River Valley are urged to cover outdoor plants and bring in potted vegetation to prevent frost damage. While temperatures will rise quickly after sunrise, the early morning chill may be strong enough to end the growing season in some areas.
Friday’s advisory highlights one of the season’s first widespread frost events, marking a shift toward cooler November temperatures across much of the state.
