Little Rock, Arkansas – A surge of early-season heat is set to push temperatures to 90 degrees or higher across much of Arkansas this weekend, raising the likelihood of record-breaking highs.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the probability of reaching at least 90 degrees climbs significantly on both Saturday and Sunday, especially across central, western, and southern parts of the state. Areas including Little Rock, Fort Smith, Hot Springs, and Pine Bluff have some of the highest chances of hitting that mark.

The heat builds quickly after a warm Friday, with widespread upper 80s expected before temperatures peak over the weekend. By Saturday afternoon, many locations could reach or exceed 90 degrees, with similar or even higher coverage on Sunday.

This level of heat is unusual for this time of year and could challenge daily temperature records in several cities. Urban areas and locations along the I-30 and I-40 corridors will feel the greatest impact during peak afternoon heating.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and check on vulnerable individuals. The warming trend continues through the weekend, with additional updates expected if record temperatures are approached or exceeded.
