Little Rock, AR – Arkansas begins the week on a cool note following a recent cold front, but temperatures will steadily climb into the midweek period before another powerful front brings much colder air into the state this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Highs today will reach the upper 40s for much of central and western Arkansas, with readings around 42–45° in Jonesboro and the Delta. Skies remain mostly sunny with dry conditions statewide. Overnight lows fall into the 20s and lower 30s.
A warming trend begins Tuesday and continues through Thursday. Temperatures are expected to top out in the upper 40s to lower 50s on Tuesday, rising into the 50s for most locations by Wednesday and Thursday. No precipitation is in the forecast during this stretch, and winds stay light.
By late Thursday into Friday, forecast models show a strong cold front sweeping south across Arkansas. This will usher in a much colder air mass for the upcoming weekend, with daytime temperatures dropping sharply and lows expected to fall into the 20s—and possibly teens in northern counties.
The NWS notes that no significant rain is expected with the front, but the temperature swing will be noticeable as winterlike air settles in.
