Little Rock, AR – A potentially active weather day is ahead for Arkansas this weekend as forecasters warn of severe thunderstorms expected to develop Saturday afternoon and continue into the evening.
According to the US National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) has been issued for much of the state on Saturday, October 18, as a strong system moves in from Oklahoma. Storms are expected to develop near the AR/OK border early Saturday afternoon before tracking east across the state.
The main hazards include damaging winds up to 80 mph, large hail up to golf ball size, and a few tornadoes — particularly in central and eastern Arkansas. The Weather Service advises residents to monitor local alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if traveling.
Conditions will begin to calm late Saturday night as storms move out, followed by a cooler, drier pattern to start next week.
