Little Rock, AR – Central Arkansas is emerging from a rain-soaked weekend as widespread storms delivered over 2.5 inches of rain across much of the region. As skies begin to clear, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day promise sunnier weather for outdoor celebrations and travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, rainfall from the past 72 hours saturated roads, with some areas still experiencing wet conditions Sunday morning. The rain, combined with patchy fog, may create visibility challenges through early Monday. Drivers on major roadways, including Interstate 30 and Interstate 40, should proceed cautiously.
Looking ahead, Monday will see decreasing clouds, a high near 66 degrees, and breezy conditions with gusts up to 20 mph. By Tuesday, temperatures will cool slightly, reaching a high of 54 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
For New Year’s Day, expect clear skies and a crisp high near 49 degrees, providing perfect weather for parades, outdoor festivities, and travel. Temperatures will drop into the mid-30s at night, so bundling up for evening celebrations is recommended.
No hazardous weather is expected for the remainder of the week, but those traveling through the region are advised to stay updated on changing conditions, particularly as dense fog could develop Monday morning.
Plan your New Year’s week with confidence as Arkansas transitions into a drier and cooler weather pattern.
