Little Rock, Ark. – Pockets of heavy rain drenched parts of western Arkansas Monday night, with some areas recording between 3 and 4 inches of accumulation by early Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service reports that locally heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms remain possible through at least Thursday, especially during the afternoon and early evening hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, rainfall was most concentrated in counties along the Oklahoma border, including Sebastian, Scott, and Polk, where radar estimates showed the highest totals. While showers will be scattered, brief storms could bring sudden ponding on roads and reduced visibility for drivers.
Daily high temperatures are expected to stay near seasonal norms, ranging from 90° to 94° across much of Arkansas. However, conditions will warm into the weekend, pushing some areas into the mid-90s by early next week. Rain chances are forecast to taper off starting Friday.
Residents are advised to monitor for any localized flooding, avoid driving through water-covered roads, and plan outdoor activities earlier in the day to avoid the storm window. Additional updates are expected if new advisories are issued.
