Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of Arkansas, warning that a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will move through the state beginning Monday morning and continue through early Tuesday.
Forecasters expect light snow and sleet accumulations of a few tenths of an inch, mainly across northern and central counties, while ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch — and locally up to two-tenths — are possible across western, central, eastern, and northeast Arkansas.
The advisory covers a large portion of the state, including Little Rock, Hot Springs, Conway, Batesville, Mountain Home, Pine Bluff, and Arkadelphia.
The wintry mix is forecast to begin by 6 a.m. Monday, likely affecting the morning and evening commutes with slick and hazardous roads. Bridges and overpasses will freeze first, creating especially treacherous travel conditions.
Residents are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions at iDriveArkansas.com before heading out. Even light icing can cause significant travel issues, especially in rural or elevated areas.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
