LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Temperatures across central Arkansas are rebounding Monday after a chilly start, with afternoon highs climbing back into the upper 30s and 40s, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

Forecasters said the warming trend will become noticeable Monday afternoon as sunshine and calmer conditions allow temperatures to recover from early-morning lows in the 20s to lower 30s. In Little Rock, highs are expected to reach around 40 to 41 degrees, while surrounding areas see similar conditions.

Across the state, forecast highs Monday range from the mid-40s in western Arkansas, including Fort Smith, Russellville and De Queen, to the upper 30s in eastern communities such as Jonesboro and West Memphis. Northwest Arkansas may be slightly warmer, with places like Harrison approaching 50 degrees by late afternoon.

The National Weather Service said the warming trend will continue overnight, with Tuesday morning lows expected to be milder than Monday morning, generally remaining in the 20s to low 30s. By Tuesday afternoon, temperatures are forecast to climb even higher, with highs reaching the upper 40s to mid-50s statewide, including central Arkansas.

Meteorologists attribute the warming to a shift in air masses, allowing milder air to move back into the region after recent cold conditions. No precipitation is expected during this period, and road conditions are anticipated to improve as temperatures rise above freezing.

While the coldest part of the day has passed, residents are still advised to dress in layers during the morning hours and remain cautious on shaded roads where lingering frost or ice may persist early.

The overall outlook points to a steady moderation in temperatures into midweek, offering a break from the recent cold spell. Forecasters encourage Arkansans to stay updated with local forecasts as conditions continue to evolve.
