Little Rock, Arkansas – After a mild start to the weekend, Central Arkansas is staring down a streak of rising heat, with temperatures set to hit 90°F by Tuesday and climb to the mid-90s by Thursday. The National Weather Service warns that by midweek, the Little Rock metro could feel several degrees hotter due to rising humidity and minimal cloud cover.

According to the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, high pressure will dominate the region beginning Sunday, locking in clear skies and calm winds. Daily highs will steadily rise from the upper 80s Sunday to 93°F by Wednesday, with little overnight relief as lows hover in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Communities across Pulaski County — including Maumelle, Sherwood, and Jacksonville — should prepare for increasing heat exposure through Wednesday. Although no official heat advisories are in place yet, the early August sun combined with stagnant air may increase the risk of heat-related illness. Residents are advised to hydrate, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets.

While no rain is expected through Friday, additional alerts may be issued if the heat index climbs above 100°F later in the week.
