Little Rock, Arkansas – High temperatures climbing into the 70s across central Arkansas through Sunday will bring above-normal warmth near Interstate 30 and Interstate 40, with periodic rain chances returning late in the weekend.

According to the US National Weather Service in Little Rock, afternoon highs will trend well above seasonal averages from Wednesday through Sunday. Cities including Little Rock, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff and Monticello are expected to see multiple days with temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s.

Northern areas such as Harrison may experience wider swings, with cooler mornings dipping into the 40s before warming into the 60s and low 70s during the afternoon hours. The warming pattern is expected to remain consistent into the weekend, with Saturday currently projected as one of the warmer days for much of the state.

Rain chances will be possible at times from Wednesday evening into Thursday before tapering off. Another round of precipitation could develop Sunday into early next week. While rainfall is not expected to be widespread or particularly heavy at this time, passing showers may briefly affect travel along I-30, I-40, U.S. Highway 65 and other major corridors.

Forecasters note that precipitation timing may shift as the system evolves, and not all areas will see rain continuously.

Commuters, students and outdoor event planners should prepare for warm afternoons but remain aware of changing rain chances, especially late Sunday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for refined timing and rainfall expectations as the weekend approaches.
