Little Rock, AR – Mild December temperatures will continue across Little Rock and much of central Arkansas on Wednesday, accompanied by increasing chances of rain that could impact commuters and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, both overnight lows and daytime highs are expected to inch upward Wednesday. Morning temperatures across the region are forecast to start in the upper 30s to lower 40s, with Little Rock near 41 degrees. Afternoon highs are expected to climb into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees, well above typical mid-December averages.
Rain chances are expected to increase beginning Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday. Forecasters say the highest likelihood for showers will be across central and southern Arkansas, including Pulaski County and surrounding areas. Rain chances range from 30% to more than 50% in parts of the region, while northern Arkansas is expected to see lower coverage.
While widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated, periods of light to moderate rain could lead to slick road conditions, particularly during the morning and evening commute. No severe weather is expected with this system.
The warming trend marks a continuation of a mild pattern for Arkansas this week, as southerly flow helps keep temperatures above normal. The National Weather Service notes that conditions remain favorable for rain as moisture increases across the state ahead of the next weather system.
Residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas handy and allow extra travel time Wednesday, especially during periods of rain. Forecasters advise monitoring updated forecasts in case rain coverage or timing changes.
Mild conditions are expected to persist into midweek, with additional updates issued as confidence increases on late-week weather trends.
