Little Rock, AR – An unsettled weather pattern is expected to settle over Arkansas beginning late Sunday, bringing rounds of showers and thunderstorms through at least Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, widespread rain chances will build Sunday night into Monday, with storms likely to continue statewide through midweek. Forecasters warn that rainfall totals could reach 2 to 4 inches across central and northern Arkansas, with southern areas seeing lesser amounts.

The system is expected to bring multiple impacts. Heavy rainfall and cloud-to-ground lightning are likely, with the potential for isolated strong to severe storms. Damaging wind gusts and hail cannot be ruled out. Saturated soils may increase the risk of localized flash flooding, particularly in areas that receive repeated rounds of storms.

On Saturday, high temperatures will remain in the upper 80s to mid-90s across much of the state, but cooler, wetter conditions will move in as the storm system strengthens. Rain chances will increase significantly Sunday evening, with the highest probabilities forecast Monday through Wednesday.

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts closely, especially in flood-prone areas. Motorists should also use caution during heavy downpours, as reduced visibility and ponding on roads could create hazardous travel conditions.
