Little Rock, Arkansas – Another cold night is expected across much of Arkansas, with overnight lows dropping into the teens across the northern two-thirds of the state and lower 20s farther south.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, temperatures late tonight into Wednesday morning will range from near 14 degrees in parts of northwest Arkansas to around 18 to 19 degrees across central portions of the state, including the Little Rock area. Southern Arkansas is expected to remain slightly warmer, with lows generally in the lower 20s.

Forecasters also noted the potential for patchy freezing fog overnight into Wednesday morning, primarily across portions of central and southern Arkansas. While widespread icing is not expected, isolated slick spots could develop on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roadways.

Communities along major travel corridors such as Interstate 40, Interstate 49, Interstate 55, Interstate 30, and U.S. Highway 67 may be impacted by the cold overnight temperatures. Motorists traveling early Wednesday morning should remain alert for reduced visibility and localized slick conditions.

Wednesday afternoon will bring some improvement, with temperatures rising into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees across much of the state. Highs are forecast to reach around 39 to 40 degrees in areas including Little Rock, Russellville, Fort Smith, and Mountain View, while eastern Arkansas remains slightly cooler.

The National Weather Service indicated that north to northwest winds will gradually shift to the southwest by Wednesday afternoon, helping temperatures recover modestly. Despite the afternoon warming, cold conditions will persist through much of the day.

Residents are encouraged to take cold-weather precautions, including protecting exposed pipes, bringing pets indoors, and dressing in layers if heading outside overnight or early Wednesday.

Additional cold mornings are possible later this week, and residents should continue monitoring forecasts for updates as the weather pattern evolves.
