Little Rock, Ark. – Skies are clearing across Arkansas this afternoon as a stubborn upper-level disturbance drifts away, setting the stage for a stretch of hot, dry weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a strong ridge of high pressure will build over the region, locking in a prolonged period of above-normal temperatures and minimal rainfall. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s in central and southern Arkansas, while parts of the Ozarks could remain a few degrees cooler but still dry.

The dry pattern raises concerns for rising fire danger, especially in counties like Pulaski, Faulkner, and Garland where vegetation is already drying out. Outdoor burning should be limited, and residents are urged to monitor for any burn bans issued by local officials. Farmers may also face added stress on late-summer crops without needed rainfall.

Travelers can expect mostly sunny skies on major roadways such as I-40 and I-30, with little weather-related disruption. Residents should prepare for extended heat by staying hydrated, limiting strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and keeping an eye on vulnerable neighbors.

The dry and hot trend is expected to hold through much of next week, with no significant rain chances on the horizon.
