Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansas residents may see storms turn severe Friday night as a cold front pushes across the state, with hail larger than a quarter posing the biggest concern. The National Weather Service in Little Rock has placed most of central and northern Arkansas under a marginal risk, meaning isolated severe storms are possible.
According to the National Weather Service, storms are expected to develop late Friday evening into the overnight hours as cooler air arrives behind the front. Cities including Little Rock, Conway, Hot Springs, and Jonesboro could see hail strong enough to damage vehicles, roofs, and crops. Wind gusts over 40 mph are also possible with the strongest storms.
Drivers should remain alert if traveling Friday night, as storms may develop quickly along I-30, I-40, and I-55. Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture, park vehicles under shelter, and monitor weather alerts in case warnings are issued.
The storm risk is expected to diminish by early Saturday as the front moves southeast, but additional updates are likely as the system approaches.
