Little Rock, Arkansas – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected today and tonight, with another round of storms possible Friday afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a few storms each day could become strong to marginally severe, though the overall threat remains low. The Storm Prediction Center places central Arkansas, including Little Rock, under a Level 1 to Level 2 risk on Friday, indicating isolated to scattered severe storms.
Forecasters say gusty winds are the primary concern, with gradient wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph today and stronger storm-related gusts up to 60 mph possible Friday afternoon and evening. Maximum hail sizes are expected to remain limited, with hail generally up to quarter size (1 inch) possible in stronger storms.
Storm chances are highest during the afternoon to evening hours, both today and Friday. Despite the low overall risk, officials stress the importance of remaining weather-aware and having multiple ways to receive warnings.
Temperatures today are expected to climb into the 60s and 70s, adding to the unsettled conditions.
For commuters and outdoor plans, brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds may cause short-term disruptions, especially late Friday.
