Little Rock, Arkansas – Temperatures remain near freezing across Little Rock today following a very cold start to the morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, noon temperatures across central Arkansas are slowly warming under mostly sunny skies. In Little Rock, the temperature was reported near 31 degrees, while surrounding communities ranged from the upper 20s to mid-30s.

The NWS says areas to the north and east of Little Rock, including Searcy, Mountain View, and Jonesboro, are still reporting temperatures near or below 30 degrees, while southern portions of the state have warmed into the mid to upper 30s.

Despite sunshine, officials warn that roadway conditions may remain hazardous in spots, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and shaded stretches where moisture from overnight cold may not have fully thawed. Drivers along Interstate 30, Interstate 40, and Highway 67/167 are urged to use caution through the afternoon.

Forecasters note that temperatures should continue to gradually climb later today, but the slow warmup means cold pavement temperatures could linger, especially in areas that saw frost early this morning.

Residents heading out today are encouraged to dress for cold conditions and allow extra travel time, especially during afternoon commutes in shaded or elevated roadway areas.

The National Weather Service emphasized that while conditions are improving, winter driving awareness remains important today across much of Arkansas.
