Little Rock, AR – A soggy weekend is ahead for Arkansas as widespread rain and thunderstorms move across the state through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Forecasters say scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop Friday, becoming more widespread Saturday and Saturday night as an upper-level system pushes through. Rain chances will linger into Sunday, with totals ranging from 1 to 1.5 inches across northern Arkansas to 2 to 3 inches in central and southern parts of the state. The El Dorado area could see up to 4 inches by Sunday night.
Temperatures will range from the low 60s in Fayetteville to near 80 degrees in El Dorado and Monticello Friday before gradually cooling over the weekend. The heaviest rainfall is expected to impact Texarkana, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, and Prescott, where localized flooding in low-lying areas and poor drainage zones will be possible.
Rain chances decrease Sunday night into early next week as a cold front moves in from the northwest, bringing drier and cooler air. The NWS advises residents to monitor forecasts and stay weather-aware through the weekend as conditions evolve.
