Lincoln, Ill. – Central Illinois will see a stretch of pleasant weather early this week before temperatures rise sharply, sending highs into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees by Thursday. Sunshine will dominate through at least Friday, keeping the region warm and dry.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, highs will hold in the mid-70s Monday before climbing into the low 80s Tuesday. By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to reach the mid-80s, with readings near 90 degrees possible across Springfield, Bloomington, and Decatur by Thursday afternoon. Rain chances remain near zero through the end of the week, aside from a slim 10% chance of showers Tuesday.

The dry pattern means comfortable evenings for outdoor plans, though residents should prepare for warmer afternoons and take precautions against heat, especially by midweek. With little relief in sight, farmers and gardeners may need to water frequently to counteract the dry stretch.

The warming trend is expected to continue into the weekend, with forecasters noting that any meaningful rain remains unlikely before next week.
