Lincoln, DE – A three-vehicle crash in Lincoln left one man dead and shut down part of Dupont Boulevard for several hours Friday afternoon, according to Delaware State Police.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on October 17, 2025, when a Hyundai Sonata traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard was slowing for a traffic signal near Johnson Road. A Honda Accord behind it allegedly failed to slow down, striking the rear of the Hyundai and pushing it into the intersection, where it collided with a Freightliner tanker-truck traveling westbound.
According to state police, the 68-year-old driver of the Hyundai, from Portsmouth, Virginia, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
The 58-year-old driver of the Freightliner from Dover and the 27-year-old driver of the Honda from Milford were not injured. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while troopers investigated and cleared the scene.
