Limestone Fire to announce cuts soon amid failed tax referendum

Limestone Fire Department addressed citizens via Facebook early this afternoon in the wake of a failed tax referendum. The department announced implementing changes to both staff and the services they provide in the near future.

 “On behalf of all of us at LTFPD, we sincerely appreciate all of those that supported us during this Tax Referendum attempt. Due to the failure of this referendum, there will be changes to staffing and the services we provide in our near future. As we begin to implement these changes, we will keep all of you informed. Please direct all questions and concerns to either Chief Whalen or Deputy Chief Bruno at (815) 932-4664.”

The Fire Department reported a record turnout for the vote.
