Denver, CO – Snow showers will sweep across Colorado’s mountain regions this afternoon, accompanied by gusty winds and dropping temperatures. Travelers should prepare for hazardous road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder, snowfall will increase throughout the day before tapering off overnight. Accumulations of 3-6 inches are expected in the mountains, especially along the I-70 corridor near Summit County. Gusty winds, peaking at over 60 mph in exposed areas, will further reduce visibility and create blowing snow hazards.
The NWS also warns of slick roads and icy patches, particularly in high-elevation areas such as Grand and Summit Counties. Commuters and truck drivers should use caution when navigating mountain passes and prepare for delays. Windy conditions will extend into the foothills, potentially impacting Denver’s northern suburbs.
The weather is expected to clear by Saturday, with sunny skies and milder temperatures forecast for the weekend. However, residents and visitors are urged to stay updated on changing weather conditions by checking local forecasts.
