Licking County, OH – Two people were arrested and stolen firearms were recovered after a burglary investigation led deputies from Licking County into neighboring Muskingum County Thursday evening, authorities said.
According to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 5:53 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, to a reported burglary, safe-cracking and theft of firearms at a home on Mount Vernon Road in Newton Township.
Detectives identified Hyde L. Woltz of Newark as a person of interest and located her at a residence on High Street. During the investigation, Woltz allegedly told investigators that her nephew, Aden Ginnery, had recently taken possession of the stolen firearms.
Authorities said investigators learned Ginnery had left the residence in a black Ford SUV and could be traveling toward Muskingum County.
Licking County detectives contacted law enforcement there for assistance. Muskingum County sheriff’s deputies subsequently located the SUV in Zanesville and conducted a traffic stop, according to the release.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of the stolen firearms and magazines, which were collected as evidence.
Woltz and Ginnery were both arrested and transported to the Licking County Justice Center.
Woltz was arrested on allegations of burglary, safe-cracking and theft of firearms. Ginnery was arrested on an allegation of receiving stolen property.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said the case will be presented to the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
The charges are allegations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
