Libertyville, IL – A series of overnight vehicle burglaries in Libertyville prompted police response and warnings to residents after several incidents were reported Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the Libertyville Police Department, the incidents occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 11, 2025, and affected multiple streets, including Hampton Terrace, Downing Place, Seventh Avenue, Liberty Bell Lane, Valley Park Drive, and Michaels Lane.
Authorities said at least seven motor vehicles were allegedly entered unlawfully. Two vehicles initially believed to be stolen were later found abandoned a short distance from their respective homes. Officers indicated that in some cases, suspects reportedly stole items like purses and debit or credit cards, though many vehicles were only rummaged through. All affected vehicles were left unlocked, according to police.
No suspects have been identified or apprehended as of Monday.
The Libertyville Police Department is urging residents to secure vehicles and garage areas, remove all valuables from vehicles, and avoid leaving key fobs or keys inside. Officials are also asking anyone with home surveillance footage or additional details to contact the department’s Investigations Division at (847) 362-8310.
