Lexington, NC – Two Lexington residents were arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop in Davidson County allegedly uncovered multiple drug violations, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Traffic and Criminal Enforcement Team (TRACE) stopped a 2002 Honda Accord on Wilcox Way in Linwood on November 5 for a traffic violation. Deputies say the vehicle’s occupants were seen throwing drug paraphernalia out of the window before coming to a stop.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver, James Kyle McLain, 42, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, Schedule II substances (methylphenidate hydrochloride), marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. McLain also faces charges for driving while license revoked, littering, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor fleeing to elude arrest.

The passenger, Angela Kilby Jones, 46, was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a public officer, and littering, authorities said.

Both McLain and Jones were booked into the Davidson County Jail under no bond due to pretrial release violations. They are scheduled to appear in court later this month.

Per North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, bond conditions are determined by judicial officials. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
