The victim was identified as Raynard Brewington, 43, by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Authorities said Brewington was discovered near his apartment building after deputies received 911 calls from residents who reported hearing what they believed to be gunfire.
Sheriff Jay Koon said detectives have interviewed approximately 91 callers and other residents as part of the ongoing investigation. Investigators are also canvassing nearby businesses and reviewing potential evidence in the area.
“We have plans to continue to talk to neighbors and nearby businesses as part of our work on this case,” Koon said. “We encourage anyone with any information to come forward and share tips with us.”
Officials said anonymous tips can be submitted through the Midlands Crimestoppers app. Information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward.
