Lexington, SC – A man and woman from Lexington County were arrested earlier this month after deputies allegedly discovered fentanyl, guns, and other narcotics during a traffic stop on Interstate 20, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
According to arrest warrants, Jonathon Shockley, 26, was charged with multiple felonies, including two counts of trafficking fentanyl, two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and additional charges related to Schedule IV drugs. He also faces a charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Emily Gomez, 25, was charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to deputies.
“Shockley and Gomez were arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 20 around mile marker 47,” Sheriff Jay Koon said in a statement. “During the traffic stop, deputies found 166 grams of fentanyl and a handgun in the car.”
A follow-up investigation by the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team led to a search warrant at Shockley’s residence, according to Koon.
Investigators allegedly recovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription medications, marijuana, and several bags of additional suspected opioids inside the home. They also seized over $76,000 in cash and multiple firearms, officials said.
Shockley and Gomez have since been released from the Lexington County Detention Center after meeting bond requirements.
