Lowville, N.Y. – Northern New York will see an early taste of fall chill overnight as a Frost Advisory takes effect for Lewis County. Temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s, cold enough to damage unprotected gardens and sensitive outdoor vegetation.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, the advisory runs from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday. Residents across Lewis County, including Lowville and surrounding rural communities, could wake to patchy frost by sunrise.

Homeowners are urged to protect tender plants by covering them or bringing potted varieties indoors. Valleys and open fields will be most vulnerable as cold air pools in low spots, making frost more widespread.

Motorists may also encounter frosted windshields during the early morning commute, requiring extra time to clear glass before heading out. While sunshine will return Tuesday afternoon with highs climbing into the 60s, more chilly nights later this week may bring repeated frost risks.
