Levy County, FL – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for Levy County, including Chiefland, Bronson, and Cedar Key, until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30°F. A Freeze Watch will follow, lasting from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could drop as low as 19°F, creating hazardous conditions for residents and agriculture. Frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive plants and potentially damage exposed outdoor plumbing.

Residents are advised to protect tender vegetation by covering plants or bringing them indoors. Outdoor animals should have access to warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Pipes should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip to prevent freezing.

For those venturing outside, dress warmly in layers, including a hat and gloves. Temperatures are expected to improve slightly by mid-morning but will remain near freezing overnight into Thursday.
